  1. O Spirit, fill our hearts,
    so full of sin and grief,
    with words that fill us with thy life,
    dispelling unbelief.
  2. When left to our own way,
    abiding in the flesh,
    we choose not thee, O Christ, alas;
    we turn to wickedness.
  3. Yet as the Father grants,
    according to his plan,
    he gives eternal life to those
    who from his presence ran.
  4. To whom then shall we go?
    We trust and rest in thee,
    who from our fears and sins and grief
    has come to set us free!
