The Fool Speaks in His Heart
- The fool speaks in his heart;
he says, “There is no God.”
Corrupt are they, their deeds are vile;
not one does any good. - The Lord looks down from heav’n
and views the human race
to see if any understand,
if any seek God’s face. - They all have turned aside;
corrupt they have become.
Not one of them does any good,
no, not a single one. - Will sinners never learn?
My people they devour;
they eat my people as their bread
and never seek the Lord. - Great terror on them falls,
and they are much dismayed,
before there is a single cause
for them to be afraid. - The bones of all your foes
you scatter all abroad;
and you will put them all to shame,
who are despised by God. - May help from Zion come!
The Lord his captives bring!
Let Jacob’s tribes restored be glad;
for joy let Isr’el sing!
